We combine our practical experience with the leading research and data on organizational and human performance. We emphasize the cultural and people aspects of any challenge factoring the values and priorities of the stakeholders – managers, front-line workers, customers, suppliers, etc. – to develop a roadmap or path towards growth and improvement.

Our name, Sabeel, is an Arabic word that means “way”, “path”, “road”, or “route”. Our goal is to provide consulting services, leadership training, and skills development to help organizations and leaders identify the path or route through difficulties and challenges and towards their vision and goals.

Our Team

Dr. Iqbal Latheef

Dr. Iqbal Latheef has delivered over $200MM in savings through his consulting projects for major global corporations. He brings his wealth of experience in Management Consulting, Non-Profit Management, Engineering and Entrepreneurship to provide his clients with practical and creative solutions for their most difficult challenges. His consulting projects include technology implementations, business case development, business process transformation, change management, and operations strategy analysis and design. He also has been serving at Board level positions for non-profit organizations for over 20 years. Iqbal is an experienced facilitator and workshop designer who develops customized sessions to help meet his client’s objectives and goals. He has taught at the MBA-level courses in Managerial Decision Making and Supply Chain Management at the University of Houton – Downtown.

Iqbal has a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and an MBA with Honors from the University of Texas at Austin.

Melvin LeBlanc

Melvin LeBlanc has over 30+ years in the HSE field and is a subject matter expert in HSE Management Systems and HSE Learning, Competence & Development. Presently, he is an adjunct professor at University of Houston – Downtown teaching in their Safety Management Department.

Melvin’s span of work experience includes Oil & Gas, Construction, Steel, Manufacturing, Chemicals, Government, Healthcare and Military. His early safety career began in 1984 as an Occupational Safety and Health Specialist in the United States Air Force, then as an OSHA Compliance Office with the US Department of Labor and Safety Engineer with the US Department of Energy. He worked in Saudi Arabia for 1994 to 2002 indifferent lead safety roles. From 2007 to 2023 at Shell Oil Company, he held a Senior Safety Advisor position, HSE Management System Advisor, and finished his career with Shell as the Global Safety & Environmental Learning Advisor.

He completed his Master’s degree, with distinction, from New York Institute of Technology in the field of Instructional Technology, and earned a Bachelor’s degree, with honors, from the State University of New York.

Dr. Zahir Latheef

Zahir Latheef is an award-winning professor guiding MBA students in their leadership journey at the University of Houston Downtown. His research on organizations appears in leading journals including the International Journal of Conflict Management, Journal of Leadership and Organizational Studies, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Advances in Developing Human Resources, and the Online Learning Journal. He aims to bridge the gap between research and practice, sharing his work at leading conferences including the Association of Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA), Academy of Management (AOM), and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP).

Beyond academia, Zahir brings over two decades of nonprofit board leadership and consulting experience, including driving change management initiatives for a global consulting firm. He is certified in The Leadership Challenge® and Ken Blanchard’s SLII®, two leadership frameworks widely adopted by Fortune 500 firms around the globe.

He holds a PhD in Management from the University of Houston and a BBA and MS of Accounting from Texas A&M University.
